BIOGRAFIA “ORQUESTA BROADWAY”
En el año 1962 llegue’ de Cuba con mis hermanos Ruddy y Kelvin a la ciudad de Miami. Posteriormente nos trasladamos a la “Gran Manzana” New York en Junio del mismo año, en donde tuve la oportunidad de tocar con Jhonny Pacheco, Lou Perez, Alfredito Valdez (padre) y Arcenio Rodriguez, situación esta que dio origen a unirme con mis hermanos y creamos la ‘ORQUESTA BROADWAY”, y cuyo nombre se origino’ debido al hecho de que vivíamos en la Calle 135 y Broadway en la ciudad de New York, creándose de esta manera una orquesta con un estilo y sonido diferente a las que existían en esa época, dando origen a la serie de éxitos que durante mas de 45 años hemos podido llevar a los diferentes continentes como Europa, Africa, Sur America y gran parte de los Estados Unidos, donde hemos tenido la oportunidad de tocar y conseguir un publico cada dia mas amante de nuestra música latina y, a pesar de la invasión de nuevas orquestas, la “Orquesta Broadway” todavía continua siendo una de las favoritas en salones de bailes y conciertos en la “Gran Manzana”.
Tambien cabe agregar que fue la ‘ORQUESTA BROADWAY” elegida para clausurar el famoso “PALLADIUM BALLROOM” de la calle 52 y Broadway en el año 1967. Fue galardonada con discos de Oro en la Producciones “PASAPORTE” Y “PARAISO”. Multiples premios recibió por parte de la Cerveza Americana “Shafer”, también fue galardonada como “Rey de la Salsa” en el año 1.980 por votación popular, otorgado por el periódico “Diario La Prensa” y la cerveza “Schlitz”. Ganadora del Festival de Orquestas en la Feria de Cali-Colombia en el año 1.982. Reconocimientos Honorificos por parte de la Gobernacion y Alcaldia de la ciudad de New York.
El 40 Aniversario de la “ORQUESTA BROADWAY”, fue escogido como una de las 10 mejores producciones en el año 2.003 por la prestigiosa revista internacional “LATIN BEAT”, entre alrededor de 250 producciones en la industria del disco latino.
Actualmente estamos preparando una nueva producción la cual esperamos sea como siempre del agrado de los seguidores de nuestra música.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF “ORQUESTA BROADWAY”
I came From Cuba with my brother Ruddy and Kelvin to Miami .After a brief stay,we decided to go to the Big Apple ,New York city.Upon my Arrival, I played with Johnny Pacheco, Lou Perez , Alfredito Valdes Sr. and Arsenio Rodriguez . I then decided to form “Orquesta Broadway” in Manhattan where we all lived. We prided ourselves in sounding different from the bands of that era giving way to more than 45 years of hits and travel including Europe, Africa, South America and North America.
Despite the emergence of many different styles of music that has dominated the Latin Music scene, ORQUESTA BROADWAY has always maintained a strong fan base of educated listeners and dancers of the style of Charanga. ORQUESTA BROADWAY, has always been at the forefront of the Latin Music scene in New York City that it was even chosen to play on the last day of the world renowned Palladium Ballroom on 52 st. and Broadway. ORQUESTA BROADWAY, has received numerous awardas including “King of the Bands” by the newspaper Diario La Prensa, winner of “best of festival competition” held in Cali, Colombia every year and numerous lifetime achievements given by the state of New York and it’s people.
“ORQUESTA BROADWAY’S most recent production was a celebration of more than 40 years of Cuban music that has transcended to all people of all differente backgrounds. It has been awarded one of the Top Ten Best Productions of 2003 by Latin Beat magazine and was nominated for a Grammy in the Tropical category. Since the success of the 40th anniversary CD, the band has continued to travel the world bringing the sound of Cuban music to the ears of discriminating listeners all around the world. We are working on the followup to the 40th anniversary CD that will be available soon.
